bjective: Objective of the current study was to find out the gender differences in subjective, objective burden and mental health problems among caregivers of patients diagnosed with schizophrenia and epilepsy. Study Design: Cross sectional study. Setting and Period: This study was conducted over a 1 year of period from January 2016 to December 2016 at the Basic Health Unit, Rajo Wal District Kasur. Material and Methods: Participants (N = 237, n = 150 caregivers diagnosed with epilepsy & n = 87 caregivers of schizophrenia) were selected through purposive sampling technique. Their age ranges varied from 20 to 50 years (Mean = 20. 2, SD = 1.32). Urdu Burden Assessment Scale (BAS) and Urdu General Health Questionnaire (GHQ) were used to assess the burden and mental health problems of caregivers. Results: Results showed significant gender differences on the composite scores of GHQ and its two subscales (somatic complaints, anxiety and insomnia, p <. 001). A non-significant gender difference was found on the total scores of BAS, its two subscales: Subjective and Objective burden and two subscales of GHQ: Social dysfunction and depression (p <. 70). Implications of the study were discussed.
