One major tool for success in sustaining control over colonies in the hands of colonist is to nullify the local culture and impose the values system of their own. In Colonial India British tried to impose its educational, cultural and social policies for political and economic gains. In the process, Sir Syed Movement at one hand supported the Western power for its modern approaches, but at same time they these policies were analyzed in the shade of religious and indigenous values. Altaf Hussain Haali being one of the most important members of this movement and influential poet of the time, surprisingly advocate both trends at same time. This short paper is study of different aspects of Haali intellectual preferences in support and against of colonial policies and acts in India as they are documented in his poems.
