Abstract
Generally Qudrat Ullah Shahab's Shahab Nama is placed amongst the
auto-biographies yet its craft, style, structure and a blend of reality with
imagination arise the question whether we should consider it a biography,
an auto-biography, a piece of fiction, sketches or a book on history. This
article is an attempt to determine the genre of Shahab Nama by analyzing it
in the light of art of fiction, sketch writing, biography and history. The
study concludes that Shahab Nama is neither a pure biography, nor a fiction
or the history; in fact it is a mixture of all these prose forms.
